Review

This is a delightful steamy romance with leads in their forties. The more I read, the more I grew invested in Sabrina and Michael. Their chemistry is off the charts and the only obstacles to a happy ending are themselves - but given their lives so far, it all makes sense and is resolved in a satisfying way. As romance goes, this is a good one.

As books that tackle grief go, this is an excellent one. Sabrina is too young to be widowed but too old to be swept off her feet (she thinks). Her support group are hilarious but also incredibly heartfelt; their observations and advice on grief feel so spot on and I was tearing up at parts - yet it was never maudlin or gratuitous, simply a woman living with grief and realising that her life didn't end when her husband's did. Her reluctance to jump into another relationship is understandable but beautifully handled. I hope the rest of her widows group find their own happy endings, with or without a new significant other.

Best enjoyed with a fluffy blanket and a couple of tissues, and maybe a cool drink ;)
